This is a rough and ready recording of some songs from the very first Code rehearsal prior to recording the Nouveau Gloaming album. This was the first time we had been in the same room all together and as well as learning HOW we each played, we were also trialling WHAT we were going to play. Please bear in mind these are very crude recordings and were never intended for public consumption but in the spirit of celebrating our past, we have decided to make them available for you to listen to and perhaps enjoy.

This rehearsal took place at The Rooms Rehearsal Studios, North Camp, Hampshire, England in November 2003.

Genre defining album. THIS is what avantgarde is. Not strictly in it's form, but in its transgression of expectations and pretense. This one album is a whole genre encapsulated. How many people walked into this expecting a second wave black metal album and had their expectations demolished gloriously? The album has a playful roguishness to it, where you pay for admission to a circus whose clowns entertain themselves at your expense, and you love every minute of it. Archmage Orladin
